School Trips and Extra Curricular Activities
EXTRA CURRICULAR, TRIPS & ACTIVITIES
All students are encouraged to develop their personal interests through the many extra-curricular activities available.
We are very proud of the extra curricular programme we offer our pupils at St Michaels's. All students are encouraged to develop their personal interests through the many extra-curricular activities available. These include a variety of lunch-hour and after-school clubs and activities for those interested in drama, music and sport (various clubs include athletics, dance, football, rugby, gymnastics, netball, hockey, board games, chess, clay modelling, cookery, Japanese, gardening club). We also have a School Choir who regularly represent the School at Westminster Cathedral.

Other committees include the ECO Committee, Student Council and our Diversity Committee.
SCHOOL TRIPS
Many expeditions, field study trips and outings take place during school time, in the evening, at weekends and during the holidays and they form a natural extension to the school curriculum. Outings are arranged to the theatre, opera, concerts, art galleries, museums, places of worship, stately homes, castles, sporting events, residential study centres, lectures, demonstrations, conferences and exhibitions.
We also run our highly successful annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes supporting the Society of Lourdes .
The RE Department take students to local Mosques, Synagogues and Westminster Cathedral. The MFL Department organises expeditions to France and Spain while the Tech and Art Departments take students to art galleries, London Borough Market, Construction companies as well as inviting external speakers from industry to speak to our students. Year 7 have the opportunity to go on a weekly residential trip. The Geography and Science Departments run day trips to exhibitions, daily and residential field trips across the UK and also to Iceland. The History Department also oversees a variety of trips including The Tower of London, Battlefields in Belgium and also to Berlin. Our Business Studies Department hold a Careers Fair and take students to numerous Conferences as well as arranging in-house speakers.
We traditionally run a Ski Trip (open to years 7-10 and 12) each February half term.
We regularly offer "Reward Trips" to our students for those who have demonstrated they are following the values of our school through behaviour and performances both academic and non-academic. Recent trips launched include a visit to Harry Potter World and Disneyland Paris.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
The Bronze Level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is being launched to students this term and we are excited to be offering this challenging and enriching provision.
Music
The Music Department offers a variety of opportunities for every student to develop their individual and group musical skills. Students are encouraged to play a musical instrument, both for personal enjoyment and to help develop self-discipline. Lessons are available on the piano, keyboard, recorder, drum kit, guitar, voice and the normal orchestral instruments, e.g. strings, woodwind and brass. Group activities include the school Orchestra and choir. There are numerous choral activities including representing the school at Westminster Cathedral. The Choir also have the opportunity to attend West End Performances and recently saw Les Miserables.
Physical Education and Sport
Over 60% of our students participate in a full sporting programme which operates during the lunch hour and after school. Various clubs offer specialist coaching for those students interested in athletics, dance, football, cross - country, hockey, netball, rounders, gymnastics, rugby, and trampolining. The PE Department also holds an annual Gym and Dance performance across all years.
We also offer students the opportunity attend sporting tournaments.
